Entrepreneurs are  generally an action oriented group of people.  They get started, they get things done.

But as with anything, too much of a good thing can be damaging.

Next time you are confronted with an issue or a problem that doesn’t have an obvious solution, refrain from making a snap decision and let the issue simmer awhile.  Even if it is a little uncomfortable.

I have found that many times when I practice the art of doing nothing, the problem self resolves OR a much better solution appears.  I cannot tell you the amount of times I have made something worse or at best wasted precious time and energy “fixing” things that either didn’t need fixing or could have been fixed much more elegantly had I just had a bit more patience and let the issue sit for a day or two.

I bet if you look at your own life, you will see that practicing the Art of Doing Nothing would have saved you a bunch of strain and stress too.  So what should be your strategy?

When the next problem crops up (don’t worry, it’s coming soon), practice the Art of Doing nothing… and see if a much more elegant solution appears in a day or two (or that the “problem” wasn’t really a problem at all).  The easiest thing to check off on a to do list is the item never put there in the first place…
